How does CBD work? CBD research? Patent US6630507?
CBD
CBD (cannabidiol) is a cannabinoid found naturally in hemp. Vegetable cannabinoids are insoluble in water, they dissolve only in fats and alcohols and other non-polar organic solvents. CBD belongs to more than 85 cannabinoids that we can find in hemp. Products containing CBD are available in the form of a liquid, thick oil or paste (higher concentrations of CBD). CBD does not have psychoactive properties unlike the famous THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), which is why it can be used in 100% by virtually everyone. The most CBD can be found in hemp (Cannabis sativa subsp. sativa), THE concentration of THC does not exceed 0.2%, which is why these products are legal in Poland and the EU.
CBD acts on cannabinoid receptors located on the surface of cells. Two cannabinoid receptors found in the human body have been distinguished: CB-1 (CNR1) which can affect, for example, pain perception or increase appetite and CB-2 (CNR2) which affects the regulation of the immune response process.
CBD works very similarly to the cannabinoid, which is naturally produced by our body, supporting its various functions. Interest in CBD hemp oil is constantly increasing. Every day there are more and more publications on this subject.
The Food and Drug Administration obtained a patent from the U.S. federal government in 2003 for the use of the cannabinoid CBD to treat inflammation and neurodegenerative disorders. Currently, research is being conducted by the agencies to produce drugs that contain CBD to help children with a rare form of epilepsy. Due to the lack of extensive clinical trials (many people talk about the pharmaceutical lobby), state regulations prohibit the use of CBD as a drug, which is why a preparation containing CBD appears in stores as food oils/pastes, or natural dietary supplements.
Patent US6630507 of 2003 indicates the ability of CBD (cannabidiol) to have antiepileptic effects, lower intraocular pressure in the treatment of glaucoma, no toxicity and no serious side effects even at high doses, neuroprotective properties, the ability to suppress glutamate toxicity, the ability to protect against cell damage, the ability to protect against ischemic brain damage, anxiolytic action and its powerful properties antioxidants, which can be used in the prevention and treatment of diseases associated with free radicals - such as ischemic reperfusion damage, inflammatory diseases, systemic lupus erythematosus, myocardial infarction, cerebral vascular accidents (such as thromboembolism or hemorrhagic stroke), Down syndrome, Crohn's disease, autoimmune diseases (for example, rheumatoid arthritis), cataracts , uveitis, emphysema, stomach ulcers, neoplasia, undesirable cellular apoptosis, radiation sickness, particular attention should be paid to the use for the prevention, retention or treatment of neurological damage in Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, HIV-induced dementia. CBD is also used in drug therapies of alcoholism, diabetes, asthma, epilepsy, leukemia, migraine headaches, boredom and vomiting, reduces pain from spinal injuries and multiple sclerosis. It should be remembered that all studies still need to be confirmed and extensive clinical trials, but despite this, there is a huge potential of this substance.
In Poland, you can buy CBD oils and pastes (pastes are a higher concentration of CBD)
It is impossible to determine the dosage without consulting a specialist because it is affected by a large number of internal factors of the body. The minimum dose affecting the adult human body is 2-3 mg of CBD per day. The maximum dose has not been set. CBD oil can be safely used in much larger quantities. It is impossible to overdose with CBD.
It is widely used as a preventive measure against many civilization diseases and is becoming more popular every day. Further studies on the use and dosage are published every day, so we can assume that CBD will soon find wide application in natural medicine.
