CBD (cannabidiol) is a cannabinoid found naturally in hemp. Plant cannabinoids are primarily insoluble in water, they dissolve only in fats and alcohols and other non-polar organic solvents. CBD belongs to more than 86 cannabinoids that we can find, among others, in hemp. Products containing CBD are available in the form of a liquid, thick oil or paste (higher concentrations of CBD). CBD does not show any psychoactive properties in contrast to the already famous THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), which is why it can be 100% used by virtually everyone without any contraindications. Most CBD can be found in hemp (Cannabis sativa), where the THC concentration does not exceed 0.2% (0.2% maximum allowable concentration in the EU and PL)
How does CBD work?
CBD acts on cannabinoid receptors located on the surface of cells. There are mainly two cannabinoid receptors found in the human body: CB-1 (CNR1) which can affect, for example, pain perception or increase appetite and CB-2 (CNR2) which affects the regulation of the immune response process. We can read more about the action in the article How does CBD work?.
