Cannabinoids – a group of organic chemical compounds that act on cannabinoid receptors.
The most important of them:
THC or delta-9-THC(delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) – This is the main psychoactive hemp cannabinoid, it acts on our body by increasing the release of dopamine by compensating for the inhibitory actions of GABA neurons. Frequent abuse can lead to psychosis. It is the main component of the drug Sativex, which is attributed to patients at risk of cancer or MS pain. THC can also reduce nausea and.
CBD (Cannabidiol) – It is generally believed that CBD has greater medicinal properties than THC. It effectively fights seizures, ADHD, inflammation, migraines, anxiety, nausea, glaucoma, jaundice, depression, delusions of the limbs, back pain and many other diseases, which is why varieties with a high concentration of CBD are perfect for medical use. When treating various diseases, it turns out that although CBD itself has great healing properties, it is not more important than THC. Not CBD itself, but the interaction between these two cannabinoids very often allows you to get rid of the symptoms of various diseases.
CBDa - CBDA is a precursor of CBD, i.e. it is its acid form. CBDa has individual properties. One of them is the antiproliferative property, i.e. it prevents the poliferation of cancer cells. It also has strong anti-inflammatory properties.
THCV – this psychoactive propyl cannabinoid with a structure similar to THC is present in high concentrations (it can account for up to 56% of all cannabinoids) mainly in varieties occurring naturally in some parts of Asia (Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, India) and Africa (Nigeria, South Africa, Congo, Lesotho, Malawi, Réunion). THCV is a CB1 receptor antagonist and, like CBD, can alter the effects of THC. It has been found that THCV is perfect for the treatment of, for example, diabetes and other diseases related to metabolism.
CBN - It has a greater affinity for the CB2 receptor, which does not prevent its use as a drug, e.g. in people with sleep disorders.
CBG (Cannabigerol) - is a precursor of higher cannabinoids such as CBC, CBD, THC. In hemp producing large amounts of THC, it is present in small amounts, in higher concentrations it appears only in industrial hemp. It primarily lowers blood pressure but can also be used in the treatment of mood disorders and bipolar disorder
CBC (Kanabichromene) – does not have psychoactive properties. It is suspected that it has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. It works well, for example, in insomnia and in e.g. muscular dystrophy. It is used by the plant as an energy reserve and, if necessary, can take back the form of its precursor, which is CBG.
